Shell Tech
THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS*
INSPECTION
Each mold is inspected and tacked prior to fabrication.
GEL COAT
A high quality gel-coat is applied to the mold at a minimum of 30 mils.
EPOXY
A modified epoxy known as vinyl ester resin is applied in stages to the gel-coat. This material will increase the impact strength of the pool surface and provide protection against long-term water exposure.
HAND LAID PROCESS
Next, a team of lamenators apply hand laid layers of fiberglass fabric to provide one of the strongest one-piece fiberglass pool shells available.
REINFORCING
After the main fabrication is completed, structural supports are added to the side walls, coping, and top rim of the pool.
LAMINATION
We use a unique lamination pattern called Critical Point Lamination (A). This process places the building material across the pool from side-to-side, instead of the industry standard of end-to-end. Our process creates one of the industries toughest pools. Our Fiberglass shells won’t need a belly band or spreader bar (brace) across the pool when installed (B).
CURING
The Fiberglass shell is removed from the mold and is then trimmed and allowed to cure. All light housing, plumbing fittings, tile and waterfalls are already factory placed.
TILE
Tile (if ordered) is placed onto the fiberglass shell.
